Tufted Titmouse  Parus bicolor
Tufted Titmouse
  Parus bicolor

This common bird of eastern deciduous woodlands, a relative of the chickadee, it is a common visitor to feeders attributing to the expansion of their range northward.  It eats many varieties of seeds and berries, insects, however are still about 2/3rds of its annual diet.
Most remain on territory as a pair year round and do not join larger flocks outside the breeding season unlike other chickadees.
The Tufted Titmouse does not excavate its own cavity and will nest only on natural or existing woodpecker cavities.
