Greater Yellowlegs
Tringa melanoleuca

Common from coast to coast during migration this long legged shorebird of freshwater ponds and tidal flats has a tendency to breed in inhospitable, mosquito-ridden muskegs making it one of the least studied shorebirds on the continent.
A medium sized to large shorebird, at a height of near 14 in., it is distinguishable by its bright yellow legs, long neck and bill; summers from Alaska through central Canada and winters in the southern U.S. to southern South America and also along both coasts up to Conn. and British Columbia.
